What is a Caisson?
The Caisson is a horse-drawn military wagon that is used to transport a funeral casket. The Caisson wagon is well known for its use at Arlington National Cemetery where it has carried fallen soldiers and former United States Presidents to their final resting burial. Our History
Since 2008, the NCTA Caisson Unit has been honoring fallen law enforcement, first responders, governors, senators and other dignitaries with a horse-drawn wagon and active NC Troopers in uniform at their funeral. The solemn procession is a patriotic act of service, signifying that those who died did not die in vain and will never be forgotten.
